Abstract

Diplomitöö „Balti jaama konn“ eesmärgiks oli pakkuda välja Balti jaama kui Tallinna ühe olulisema transpordisõlme funktsionaalne lahendus ja siduda see ühise varikatuse alla. Töö raames lahendati hetkel liiga väikese ootesaali probleem, perroonide väike maht, reisijate kaitstus sademete eest ning jaama kui linnaosade ristumispunkti funktsionaalsus reisijale ja kergliiklejale. Väljapakutud arhitketuurne maht on vabavormiline ning säilitab Balti jaamas asuva paviljonihoone ja Snelli hotelli. Varikatuse lahendus on vabavormiline ja põhineb Voronoi diagrammi meetodiga koostatud struktuuril. Katuskonstruktsioon põhineb ristkihtpuit struktuuril, mis toetub metallpostidele. Katuskatte materjalina on kasutatakse ETFE pneumaatilisi patju. Praegune peahoone ning paviljoni ümbritsevad teeninduskioskid kuuluvad likvideerimisele. Pavijonihoone ja tema tiiva külge seotakse uus klaasist ootesaali maht ning tagatakse hoone kompleksi terviklik toimimine. Hoonetesse on planeeritud: ootesaal, kohvik, infopunkt, tualettruumid, kaubanduspinnad, pakihoid ja muud teenindavad ruumid. Asendiplaaniliselt antakse uus vorm reisijate perroonidele paigutades rongid ootealal kahekaupa ja sel viisil suurendades maksimaalset rongide hulka jaamas. Uus asukoht antakse linnaliinide bussipeatusele, mille asukohta muudetakse Toompuiestee äärest lähemale perroonidele. Terminali ümbruse planeeringus kasutatakse kehtivaid detailplaneeringuid ning sinna planeeritud eskiisprojekte, näiteks paviljoni esise Jaama platsi võidutööd. Transpordisõlm, mis arvestab reisija mugavust ning pakub kasutajasõbralikkust ja funktsionaalsust suudab konkurentsi pakkuda autotranspordile. Viimase vähendamine Tallinnas pakub kvaliteetsema elukeskkonna.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this thesis „Toad of Baltic Station“ was to create an architectual idea for one of the biggest transportation hubs in Tallinn. The project tries to find solution for situation where the amount of train platforms is becoming scarce during rush hours. The current railway station does not provide shelter from precipitation and departure lounge capacity is below the amount that is needed for passengers. The proposed architectual volume is mailnly defined by free flowing canopy. The idea preseves the adjacent hotel and old pavillion building as the new structure covers and bypasses them. The construction is based on CLT frames that are designed with Voronoi diagrams and sit on top metal columns. The angular holes are infilled with translucent Pneumatic ETFE pillows that act as a ceiling and roof. The long span structure creates a light filled atrium space that inspires open circulation. Current main building and encircling kiosks of the transportation hub are to be demolished. The old pavillion building will be tied to the new departure lounge allowing more space for passengers and proposing better transparency and functionality of the station. In terms of layout the train platforms will be rearranged allowing more trains to the station at the same time. The bus stop will be relocated away from the noisy four lane street. Well organised transportation interchanges that count on time planning and the convenience of passengers are able to compete with car transport. Decreasing it ensures better quality of the city environment.
