Abstract

Abstract [en]

This paper proposes and drafts an infrastructural „pipeline“ integrated into the aestethical and practical milieu of the city, the development of which has taken into account both the already set guidelines for future urban planning as well as the general wealth and realistic capabilities of the state of Estonia to undertake such significant and extensive projects. The proposition additionally emphasizes the considerations of the pedestrian, the cyclist and the commuter and aspires to adopt and rendezvous with their perspectives on the fundamental level. Research into and contemplation of the subject-matter revealed that the most straightforward and unobtrusive tools to achieve the desired and satisfactory grade of diversification and safety are small forms and different types of surfaces and pavements, which broadcast information on a visual and intrinsic level, for example, by either confirming or contradicting to the distinct comfort-zones of the varied categories of commuters. The subject of this paper has been scrutinized in different scales from the general schematics of urban planning and the transportation network of the city to the small forms and architectual sections of the streets themselves. Thirteen of said sections offer a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the miscellaneous urban environments of the „pipeline“ with diverse identities and appearancies, which all have nevertheless been integrated into an aesthetically whole conglomeration connecting the assorted hubs of the public transportation.
