Abstract

Lõputöö teemaks on Vähihingeravi keskuse hoone eskiisprojekti kavandamine. Keskuse kavandamise vajalikkus on tingitud vähktõppe haigestunud patsientide suurest kasvust Eestis, mistõttu on tekkinud vajadus lisavoodikohtade, teraapiatubade ja inimlike ravitingimuste järele. Lõputöö ülesandeks on projekteerida Hiiu 39 asuva Tuberkuloosipolikliiniku asemel Vähihingeravi keskus. Keskuse keskmeks punktiks, mille ümber kogu raviprotsessi läbi viiakse, on teraapia ja majutuse mahtu eraldav talveaed koos sealt loomuliku jätkuna toimiva siseaiaga.

Abstract [en]

The theme of the graduation thesis is the planning of the sketch project of the Cancer Center. The necessity of the Center's planning is due to the large increase of cancer patients in Estonia, which has led to the need for additional beds, therapy items and human treatment conditions. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the current situation of cancer patients and ways to cope with this disease. The goal is to offer cancer patients a center where they could find emotional support and security. The task of the thesis is to design a psychotherapy center for people with cancer at the current location of the Tallinn Tuberculosis Policlinic (Tallinn, Hiiu 39). While planning the center, concepts of green therapy, as well as the presumptions and ideas presented by the Estonian Cancer Society, were taken into account. The center has divided into three clearly differentiable parts -- the therapy section, the accomodation section and a winter garden section connecting the other sections. So both the patients and guests can find ways and places suitable for them to cope with the illness. While designing each section, aspects supporting the strenghtening of the guest's mental state were paid close attention to, to deal with their possible negative attitudes towards medical centers. The central spot of the building would be the winter garden that separates the therapy and accommodation secters, with an inner garden functioning as its natural extension. Plants, and nature in general, help the patient even when (s)he doesn't exhibit any kind of wish or strength to try other therapies. Also, green therapy would be a considerable option for patients who are not reallly cordial with their families and relatives or feel isolated in the society. As a result of the therapy, they establish a strong connection with the earth -- one could talk and "listen to" the plants, while sitting on ground. In addition to that, while being in such a garden, the patient's other senses would have some stimulus, too.
