Abstract

Lõputöö ülesandeks on luua uus planeeringuline visioon Tallinna kesklinnas asuvale Viru väljakule. Viru väljaku endises keskmest on kasvatatud ülesse orgaaniline vorm.

Abstract [en]

The summary of this thesis is to create new planning vison of Viru square in downtown Tallinn. The planning vison creates new aura and vibe to downtown what has been missing for years. The purposed vison breathes life into the square giving it elegant and clean look, an organic form. The organic form then stretches out its arms, pathways to connect different parts of town, opening up the street for people and lightweight traffic. The heavy traffic goes underground, separating light and heavy traffic from its current form into two different levels. Those levels do not intervein each other they just exist and work as they are made to function. Ground level, pedestrian level, the vison of it, takes account for the needs of modern day people and merges Estonian culture and history into cohesive bond. Creating feeling of openness, freedom and connectivity into the planning. Therefore increasing social levels and gives people a change to stand out more. In the middle of the former square, there has been extruded a organic form to create a space for the people who want to stand out and share their thoughts. It also serves as a art gallery. The space also serves as a small cafeteria, serving people in and outside the building, depending on the season.
