Abstract

Lõputöö eesmärgiks oli valmistada purjejahile android operatsioonisüsteemi baasil töötav andmekuvamise süsteem. Antud lõputöö teema tekkis autori isiklikust vajadusest purjejahile andmete kuvamise süsteemi järgi. Algne plaan oli selleks kasutada tahvelarvutit, mis oleks kinnitatud spetsiaalse rakisega purjejahi masti külge. Tahvelarvuti kasutamine andmekuvamis seadmena muudeti ümber e-lugeriks. Selle muudatuse põhjuseks oli see, et tahvelarvuti LCD ekraan ei ole tugeva päikese käes hästi loetav. E-lugeri ekraan aga on. Kinnituse valmistamise planeerimisega tehti algust veebruari lõpus. Siis oli selge ainult see, milline peab olema kronsteini kuju. Materjali valikul kalduti algselt alumiiniumisulami kasuks. Märtsi esimesel ja teisel nädalal võeti vastu otsus kasutada klaasplasti. Samal ajal valmisid klaasplastist katsekehad, et nende abil võtta vastu otsus, mitu kihti riiet kronsteini valmistamisel kasutada. Märtsi kolmas kuni viies nädal disainiti ja katsetati e-lugeri pritsmekindlat ümbrist, kusjuures just selle aja jooksul muutus tahvelarvuti plaan e-lugeriks. See muutus aga ei muutnud lähenemist ümbrise disainimisele, ainult mõõtmed muutusid väiksemaks. Aprilli alguses muutus e-lugeri ümbrise disain selliseks nagu ta hetkel on. Kui peaks klaasplastist taolist asja uuesti tegema, oleks parem kasutada polüestervaiku, mis sisaldab vaha. Seda kasutades hoiaks kokku aega, mis kuluks epoksiidvaigu kõvenemisele. Lisaks on polüestervaik odavam. Töö kirjutamise lõppfaasis, ehk aprilli keskel, tekkis tänu sellele tööle uus äriidee, milleks on täiustatud programm, mis lisaks andmete kuvamisele ka salvestaks neid ja võimaldaks nende põhjal võistlusjahtide meeskondadel paremini oma sooritust analüüsida.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this graduation thesis was to develop an Android operation system based on data display for sailboats. The idea for this thesis came from the author’s personal need for this display. The first idea was to use tablet PC, which would be mounted to the sailboat’s mast using a special bracket. However, tablet PC for data display was replaced by e-reader. The reason for this change was that the LCD screen of tablet PC is not readable in direct sunlight. E-reader’s screen, however, is suitable for this purpose. Developing a mounting system began at the end of February. Only the shape of bracket was known at this time. As for material selection, the first choice was to use aluminum alloy, but during the first weeks of March the decision was made to use reinforced glass plastic instead. At the same time test samples of GRP were made to decide how many layers of fiberglass cloth should be used to make the bracket. During the third to fifth week of March a splash-proof case for e-reader was developed and tested and at the same time tablet PC was placed by e-reader. However, this change did not change the overall design philosophy of splash-proof case, only its size decreased. At the beginning of April, the final design of the case was ready. If similar parts were to be made again, it would be better to use polyester resin that has wax in it. Using this material would reduce the hardening time. Polyester resin is also cheaper. During the final stage of writing this graduation thesis (in the middle of April), a new business idea emerged as a result of the thesis. The idea is a new app that together with displaying the data could also record it, allowing racing yachts’ crew to analyze their performance.
