Abstract

Tänapäeva tööstuste toimimiseks on vaja neid varustada elektrienergiaga. Kuigi järjepidevalt tehakse investeeringuid elektrienergia varustuskindlusse, on sageli tarbijapoolne osa pikse suhtes jäänud kaitseta.

Abstract [en]

In order to facilitate the performance of modern industries, they have to be supplied with electrical energy. Although investments are consistently made in improving the security of the electricity supply, very often the consumer’s end remains without lightning protection. Such protection increases the security of the electricity supply and also reduces the fire risk of a building. The risk analysis carried out within the framework of the final thesis shows that lightning protection is not necessary. The reasons for this include the small size of the sub-station and geographical location of the plant. However, due to the specific nature of production, the production process cannot remain without electrical energy for more than three hours. As such, from the point of view of the performer of the work, lightning protection should still be implemented. At present two transformers are being used, but if one were to fail due to lightning, the rapid load increase would also destroy the second transformer and the entire production would grind instantly to a halt. The expected losses caused by the cost of the equipment alone would be 17 million euros, but entire losses (including production ending) are forecast as being up to 90 million euros. In the future, risk analysis should be carried out for the entire plant complex. Based on this it would be possible to choose the optimal lightning protection and, if needed, to reduce risks related to the other parts of the complex. The price of constructing lightning protection, an earthing loop and equipotential bonding for the substation would be around 5000 euros at present. Even the smallest probability remains a probability, and if lightning damaged the substation and in the worst case scenario led to the total loss of production, the cost of investing in lightning protection for the substation would form just 0.005% of total losses.
