Abstract

Lõputöö ülesandeks on projekteerida Tartusse uus turg Tartu turuhoone piirkonda. Hoonete kostruktsioonid on teraset. Suletud kontuuride seinad on soojustatud.

Abstract [en]

This architectural desing solution has been prepared as a graduation project at the Faculty of Architectural and Environmental Engineering in University of Applied Sciences. This paper proposes a new market place near Tartu market hall. The aim of this project is to create synergy between old and new architecture, that tries to enliven the area by adding new functions and activities. Combining the two markets will give the area a complete vision and at the same time also covers architectural elements and actual architectural building solutions. Architectural proposal values existing architecture and emphasizes the importance of the pedestrian and public space, attempting to make the area more attractive for people. New buildings organically blend with the existing environment. Market buildings solution is suitable for riverside architecture. Buildings facades, roof and also second floor trading areas are made of wood. Wooden finishing makes buildings volumes lighter and warmer. Articulated forms gives interesting views onto the river. Building structures are made of steel and closed contours are insulated. In summer, market expands onto the river. River kiosks are built on rafts that allows mobility to enlarge market area as required. Exterior and the purpouse of the market hall remains the same. Project solution adds a new spacious second floor to the existing market hall, which allows to bring cafe into the building and extend the selling space.
