Abstract

Diplomitöö eesmärgiks oli kavandada Lõuna-Eesti keskusesse, Tartusse, avalik saunahoone ning ühtlasi lahendada teisi piirkonna vajadusi. Välja pakutud idee puhul sai autor hulgaliselt inspiratsiooni juba aastatuhandeid varasemast ajast ning mõistis, et inimese seos saunaga pole selle aja jooksul praktiliselt muutunud. Kasutati küll tänapäevaseid lahendusi, kuid asja olemus jäi taotluslikult antiikse järelkõlaga. Keskkonda sekkuti rangusega, kuid piisava hoolitsusega ümbritsevasse.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this thesis work was to plan a public bathing facility to the centre of South Estonia and at the same time, to help solve other problems in the area. The author got a lot of inspiration from the time thousands of years ago and realized, that the connection between people and sauna practically has’nt changed. In the project, there was used modern solutions, but the spirit was intentionally remained to feel antique. The intervention to the surroundings was strict, but with adequate treatment. If we add that fact, the usage on local material, which is clay brick, we have an architecture, which definetly suits the site. Yet, the proposal is also universal. The symbolic side and bathing culture itself assures that. Despite the fact, that we are dealing with utmost isolated and private site , which city could have, a fair connection the the sourroundings was done. So, with the main function, others should also help to improve the activity of life in the area. In the end, all falls down to man’s health. This work would support that with its functions and spaces. The proof is seen in thousands of years of history. We can speak about the health factor of the city too - the water of channel is ill, and this proposal would help to improve the situation. The facilities would work as a connection and also as a filter between people and nature.
